Project: South Shore Plaza

This mall renovation and three story expansion accommodates the addition of a new Nordstrom store. The expansion includes 140,000 sq ft of new boutiques as well as a 90,000 sq ft anchor tenant. The existing center’s full renovation re-establishes its place as the premier shopping destination in South Boston. As part of the larger renovation and expansion project, the food court has varied arrangements for up to 575 customers. Warm wood accents in multiple tones, along with lounge seating groupings along a full height window wall, impart a comfortable, residential quality.

Project: The Shops at Kenilworth
Client: Greenberg Gibbons

The Shops at Kenilworth is a 142,000 sq ft shopping center in Towson, MD that first opened in 1979. The project comprises of a $20 million renovation to modernize the center and create a more pedestrian friendly shopping experience. The full interior renovation includes updates to handrails, restrooms, flooring, lighting, and wayfinding signage. The project also includes an addition with a wine bar, several more restaurant tenants, and a relocated and expanded Trader Joe's grocery store.

Project: The Shops At Riverside
Client: Simon Property Group

The Shops at Riverside is a 674,416 sq ft enclosed shopping mall in Hackensack, NJ that first opened in 1977. Catering to the surrounding affluent suburban areas, shoppers are drawn to the mall for its upscale offerings and restaurants. Project updates include a 248,000 sq ft addition of retail and dining space, re-purposing of the former Saks space as a cinema and dining-entertainment complex, as well as a new concourse linking the north corridor to the south corridor.

Project: Southdale Mall
Client: Simon Property Group

A 1.3 million square foot mall located in Edina, Minnesota, Southdale Center is owned and operated by the Simon Property Group. Dating from 1956, the center is noted as being the oldest enclosed mall in the United States. JP2’s renovation of Southdale Center respects the mall’s original mid-century modern design while updating and positioning it for the future. Exterior renovations provide new and renovated mall entrances, as well as the addition of a new food court entrance with a porte-cochère for Minnesota’s inclement weather.

Interior improvements include a new food court with seven tenants and seating for 400, new public amenities including a play area for children and new restrooms, as well as all new finishes and furniture throughout the centers’ concourses. The Grand Court was similarly upgraded with new wood columns, ceiling treatments, lighting and furnishing all reminiscent of the original mid-century designs by Victor Gruen. A new way-finding and signage program, as well as upgraded lighting are also incorporated.

2015 AIA Maryland People’s Choice Award -= Commercial Architecture
The award ceremony was hosted by the AIA Baltimore at Chesapeake Bay Beach Club, a project also designed by JP2 Architects. Southdale Center is located in Edina, Minnesota and is the oldest enclosed mall in the United States.

 2014 ICSC - Southdale Center
Southdale Center in Minnesota, the oldest enclosed shopping mall in the United States, is chosen as the 2014 Silver Design and Development Award winner! The exterior renovations to the 1956 mall include new and updated mall entrances. Interior renovations feature a new food court, new public amenities, new restrooms, as well as new finishes and furniture.

Project: Westfield Annapolis - Family Amenities

JP2 is providing a flagship renovation for Westfield's Annapolis Mall. The initial phase of this effort includes renovations to the existing family amenities. All facilities are upgraded to a 'hospitality' level. The design draws heavily on imagery from the project's Chesapeake Bay proximity and heritage of nautical and water's edge motifs.

Project: Plaza Las Americas - Food Court
Client: Empresas Fonalledas

The largest and most successful food court in Puerto Rico renovation provides a lively, modern aesthetic with three distinct seating areas accommodating up to 1,200 patrons. The renovation includes the addition of a new sky light over the feature seating area to brighten the space, new floor tile, column covers and new pendant and ceiling mounted lighting.

Project: Plaza del Caribe
Client: Empresas Fonalledas

The existing food court in Plaza del Caribe is renovated, expanded and re-furnished to provide clean, modern tenant storefronts, as well as discrete seating areas for 800 patrons. Tenant facades are detailed with a wood louver system flanked by back painted glass demising piers providing a fresh tenant image while incorporating existing building system requirements. The central skylight area includes concentric banquettes surrounding bronze sculpture by the world–renowned artist Fernando Botero. The new design not only renovates and expands the food court, but also creates a new connection to the existing mall concourses.

Project: Charm City Medicus
Client: Charm City Medicus

Charm City Medicus was one of the first medical marijuana distilleries to open in Maryland after the renovation of an existing 3,600 sf space in Baltimore County. The project includes a waiting area, a separate sales area, and a secure storage area. Security measures include interior and exterior video cameras, as well as a lock system requiring a key card and thumb print verification.
